Meet Joe Lehr, Joining BHGRE Green Team at the Ringwood Office

Some people find their way into real estate gradually. Joe Lehr got a three-week severance package and made a decision.

After more than two decades in logistics and supply chain sales, operations, and leadership, Joe had been through three companies in three years due to acquisitions and layoffs. He was done letting circumstances dictate his path.

“I was ready to create my own destiny,” he says. “Real estate was something I had an interest in. The last company I was with gave me a three-week severance package. I went to real estate school during those three weeks and nine years later it’s the best decision I could have made.”

Nine years in. Five as a broker. Joe Lehr is not a new agent finding his footing. He is a seasoned professional bringing a full career’s worth of knowledge to a new home at BHGRE Green Team.

27 Years in Ringwood and Counting

Joe has lived in the Cupsaw Lake area of Ringwood for 27 years. He grew up in Ramsey, NJ. His wife Rachel grew up in Northern Westchester County. When they found Ringwood, the lakes and parks sealed the deal and they never left.

They loved it so much they put two additions on their home.

Both of their sons went through the Ringwood School District and graduated from Lakeland Regional High School. His older son Ethan, 23, graduated from the University of Tampa and is now a police officer in St. Petersburg, FL. His younger son Justin, 19, works at Ringwood State Park and for Ski Barn while pursuing a future as a commercial airline pilot.

Joe has coached youth soccer and baseball in Ringwood, volunteered on various boards and committees, and currently serves on the Ringwood Economic Development Commission. He is not just someone who lives here. He is someone who has invested in this community for nearly three decades.

When buyers ask what Ringwood is actually like to live in, Joe has a better answer than almost anyone.

A Career Built on Business and Negotiation

Before real estate, Joe spent over 20 years in logistics and supply chain, working across sales, operations, and leadership. That background gave him something that translates directly into real estate: sharp business acumen, serious negotiation skills, and the ability to stay focused under pressure.

He holds a BS in Marketing and Management from Siena College.

Today he services Ringwood, West Milford, and Ramsey, NJ, with reach across Passaic, Bergen, Morris, and Sussex Counties. He knows this market well, having worked it for nine years, and brings a level of transactional fluency that only comes with time in the field.

Why BHGRE Green Team

Joe had not interviewed elsewhere. After a phone conversation with Geoff Green, he did not need to.

“After my initial phone conversation with Geoff Green I could feel there was something special and different about the Green Team,” he says. “In our follow-up meetings his passion for his business and desire for the agents to succeed shined through. I knew I was meant to be here.”

That kind of clarity is rare, and it says as much about the Green Team culture as it does about Joe’s instincts.

Outside of Work

Joe is an avid hiker and runner who spends as much time as possible in the state parks of Northern NJ. He is also a dedicated supporter of live music, regularly seeking out new artists and local shows whenever he can.

“Like real estate,” he says, “it takes a lot of grit and resilience to be a successful musician.” He respects the craft, and shows up for it.
