Town of Warwick
The Town of Warwick
Located in the southwest part of Orange County lies the Town of Warwick. Just 55 miles from New York City, Warwick might as well be a world away. Scenic Country Roads wind through the rich farmland, mountains, valleys, around lakes, wetlands and into the different villages and hamlets that make up this unique town. The three villages, Warwick, Florida and Greenwood Lake, are unique in their history, geography and in the activities they offer.
These villages and hamlets also provide lifestyle options. Whether it is the convenience of village living, with restaurants and shops within walking distance. lakeside living featuring swimming and boating, or the rural character found amidst the beautiful farmland, all can be found within the Town of Warwick. The natural beauty of the area provides magnificent views no matter where you are throughout the town.
The geography of the area provides the perfect backdrop for outdoor activities. Whether you enjoy walking, biking, hiking, swimming, boating, skiing, snowboarding, golfing and more, Warwick has it. However, Warwick is about so much more. Unique, eclectic shops can be found throughout the town. You’ll also find an incredible selection of restaurants, many offering farm to table options using local ingredients. Furthermore, wineries, breweries, cideries and distilleries, many offering music and food, provide great options for an evening out. Also fun for an evening out is Warwick’s Drive-in Movie Theater.
The Village of Warwick
The Village of Warwick combines past and present to create a charming ambiance. Historic buildings dating back to the Revolutionary War stand side-by-side with shops, restaurants and businesses that make the Village a vibrant place. Throughout the year community events bring people together. Take a walking tour of historic sites. Make sure to stop at Baird’s Tavern for something to eat and drink, just as George Washington did on his way to his headquarters in Newburgh. He may not have slept there, but Martha did on her way to visit her husband.
The village is not just about past history. It’s about creating a sense of community. Visit Warwick Playground Dreams, an ADA accessible playground in Stanley Deming Park. It was designed with the help of Warwick’s children, then the community raised the necessary funding. The playground was assembled by over 200 volunteers, and features murals painted by local artists. Make sure to visit the Albert Wisner Library, named “Best Small Library in America” by Library Journal in 2016.
